What helped me get a data science job that fits my ambitions – part 1: resources

Around ambitions, challenges, learning
Almost 2 years ago, I took the decision to quit my job as a software engineer and to start looking for a job in the machine learning field. Right away after quitting my job, I wrote an article in my blog Up to my new Tech challenges and from there the journey started. In this article, I'm happy to share how I landed the job I dreamt of. Yeah, I got it! I've been working as a Data Scientist for Remerge, in Berlin,  for one year. Choose the right courses First off, it's important to assimilate core concepts and techniques in machine learning / Data Science, so I started on some main courses online: Machine Learning Specialization, university of Washington, Coursera: This specialization, taught by two Amazon Professors, is a good…

What I enjoy most in my field of working, is that ability to learn at your own pace. Whatever subject you are curious about, you can be sure that there is a way to do so. We have endless resources to learn, and satisfy our curiosity, our passion! I do consider "Coursera" as the best platform to take online courses in prestigious worldwide universities and this is without any cost-if you choose to just gain the knowledge, not the certificate. There is a lot more of resources like udacity, topcoder, hackerrand, etc. Software engineering is leading the World, changing our habits, and exceeding Human expectations! I really enjoy having the opportunity to participate in making the difference, as a software engineer. I'm living a continuous increasing curiosity and learning curve because it's all about…

I've been working as a software engineer, SAP ABAP Developer, since November 2014. My work involves an international client "SAP French Labs" which is the most interesting part for me, because I want to grow in an international environment and interact with people all over the World. Thus, enabling me to widen my Network and strengthen my knowledge. I do believe that a software engineer is not just a "developer". Software engineering involves interaction with client in order to understand and better satisfy his needs, besides collaboration among a team. That's why, I have been actively seeking for Computer Science Network since the beginning of my computer engineering university studies. Back to my technical skills, among my current team we are working with Agile methodology "SCRUM" so that our client…
